No Christmas season would be complete for me without a yearly rewatch of quite a few movies. The most important of which is of course Die Hard. Die Hard is probably the single biggest cause of millennial’s desire to own an MP5 submachine gun. However, technology has come a long way since the 1980s and some believe that the design could have been improved upon. Haga Defense is one of those companies and they are soon to release an MP5 Flared Magwell adapter that is compatible with both the MP5 and the MP5K submachine guns.

The MP5 Flared Magwell adapter is slated to be made from aluminum and be clamp fitted onto your MP5 or MP5K. Stock MP5s and MP5Ks featured a rounded outer edge of the magwell with a purely straight-walled inner which when combined with the fairly small dimensions of an MP5 magazine means that speedy reloads are difficult to make in stressful situations.

Given that this submachine gun was designed in the 1960s, it could use a few modern improvements. The addition of a sturdy and functional flared magazine well would certainly help guide the fresh magazine into the gun considering the relative dimensions of the magazines and stock magwell. Although Haga Defense specializes in a litany of 3D printed SLS parts for various firearms, this new aluminum MP5 Flared Magwell should be a welcome accessory for all of the new MP5 owners out there.

As of writing, the MP5/MP5K flared magwell is not available for purchase as it is still in development according to the company’s website.
