Photo Of The Day – We look at what we think is a Royal Marines sniper with his L115A3 Long Range Rifle on Dartmoor’s training area. It seems there is quite a lot of undergrowth on this range, a perfect place to hide for a sniper.
The skills side of the training saw pairs working together on a live stalk – staying undetected and moving into a position unseen to take down a target – plus an observation test, live break contact and unknown distance shoot.
The L115A3 is a bolt-action rifle made by Accuracy International, chambered in .338 Lapua Magnum with a Schmidt & Bender 5-25×56 PMII riflescope. By the looks of it, the rifle is also suppressed. This riflescope has also been reviewed by TFB, which you can check here (LRR-Mil reticle).
The live shoots also included using the L129A1 Sharpshooter, SA80, L115A3 .338, and Glock 17.
