With their founding roots stretching back to Europe in the late nineteenth century, Krieghoff endeavors to carry on the spirit of old-world hand craftsmanship in the line of fine shotguns they offer today. One of the features that many of their high-end hunting and competition guns are best known for is beautiful, intricate, artistic engraving. The Krieghoff engraving catalog includes dozens of options for baroque scrollwork or elaborate wildlife scenes to adorn your K-80. If none of the catalog options suit you, you can also commission a custom one-off engraving for your fancy new firearm.

Each year for the last quarter-century or so, Krieghoff has charged one of their master engravers with creating a unique gun to be featured as their Gun of the Year. This sui generis firearm is usually unveiled at the IWA Outdoor Classics show in Nuremberg, Germany. Last year saw an Abraham Lincoln-themed K-80 Sporting, and 2018’s was a K-80 featuring Da Vinci motif – Vitruvian Man, Mona Lisa, and all. Unfortunately, as we know, most shows and conventions are temporarily on hold at this juncture, but that has not stopped Krieghoff from creating their annual piece of functional art for 2020. With the following press release, they have announced that the 2020 Krieghoff Gun of the Year is the Galapagos Island K-80/S.

Krieghoff “The Galapagos Island” K-80/S – Gun of the Year 2020

Krieghoff announces the K-80/S “Galapagos Islands” side-plated shotgun as their Gun of the Year 2020. As exotic as the islands that inspired it, this exquisite K-80 features the vast wildlife which roam the untouched islands of Ecuador.

Using the expanded canvas of the K-80/S receiver allows us to be taken on a journey around the Galapagos and encounter its unique inhabitants. Lizards of various sizes still sporting a prehistoric look, thousand-year-old Galapagos Tortoises, and winged creatures from penguins to the majestic Galapagos Hawk come to life in stunning detail.

Dive into the tropical waters of the Galapagos and see a view similar to that shown on the receiver bottom. Prickly Pear Cacti with their beautiful flowers are just one of the native plants featured on the Krieghoff Gun of the Year 2020.

“Just mentioning the Galapagos Islands usually starts a conversation about seeing them in person. Traveling there is on everyone’s bucket list,” says Alex Diehl, Krieghoff International COO. “That was the inspiration behind the Krieghoff Gun of the Year 2020 – to give the owner the same feeling that comes from visiting this tropical paradise.”

The Krieghoff Gun of the Year 2020 is available exclusively through Pacific Sporting Arms East located in Walled Lake, MI. More information on this one-of-a-kind masterpiece can be found at https://pacificsportingarms.com.
