When it comes to red dot sights for fighting rifles, Aimpoint optics typically sit on the top tier. And when it comes to Aimpoint’s red dot models, the T-2 sits atop their Micro series‘ tiers. The T-2 enjoys the highest specs and most robust set of features of this small form factor product line and is a favorite for many shooters, including some high-level professionals. This red dot’s small size and weight, exceptional durability and reliability, and long battery life make it an excellent choice in a wide variety of shooting applications for which built-in magnification is not needed. That said, Aimpoint does also make separate magnifier units that can be installed behind their red dots in flip mounts, for greater flexibility and versatility. Longtime industry expert and former Delta operator Larry Vickers is also a proponent of this excellent little optic and has now partnered with the Swedish-based manufacturer to release a Vickers Tactical limited-edition version of the T-2.
Aimpoint’s website quotes Larry Vickers as saying,
My first introduction to the Aimpoint brand was in the late 1980’s when I finished Delta Force Operator training and was assigned to A squadron in Delta. Several assaulters were using the Aimpoint 2000 optics mounted on their CAR-15 rifles for use in close quarters battle. From that point to this day my appreciation for what Aimpoint brings to the fight has never changed – ruggedness and reliability that you can bet your life on.
Strong praise! Let’s take a closer look at the Vickers-edition T-2, and what comes with it.
Though other T-2 packages are offered with their own house-brand mount options, many shooters have found that third-party mounts are preferable. Some of the best include the Unity Tactical FAST mount and the Scalarworks LEAP mount, and Vickers has chosen the latter to pair his T-2 with in this package. The box includes a special numbered sight with Vickers Tactical logo, a Scalarworks 1.57” Quick Detach LEAP Mount, an Aimpoint case, a Scalarworks Lenspen & T10 Driver Bit, a Vickers Tactical Decal, a CR2032 battery, and a Micro tool.
What do you think, readers? Any interest in Larry’s version of the T-2, with a $949 MSRP, or would you rather have a regular one without the additional branding? Does the Scalarworks LEAP mount make it worth it for you? Let us know your thoughts in the comments! See you at the range.
