A Few months back on TFBTV, James Reeves was able to get a full breakdown of the SIG Sauer P320 Custom Works FCU Program. In that interview there was mention of an eventual online Configurator that would allow owners to fully customize their SIG P320 pistol. After a short wait over the last few months, SIG has finally launched their Custom Works P320 Studio for you to make your own unique P320.
The New SIG P320 Custom Works P320 Studio Configurator
The process is fairly straight forward to get started. For those who don’t know, the SIG P320 is based around a Fire Control Unit (FCU) that is the serialized portion of the gun. Every other piece including the barrel, grip module, magazines, and even optics can be customized from there to get the pistol just how you want it.
Each of the customizable options is fully rendered on screen as you start to configure the pistol. This way, you get a much better idea of what your pistol will look like before you even start purchasing parts. What is great about the configurator too, is that if certain parts are not compatible with one another the system will let you know this so you don’t end up buying parts that won’t work together. (For example, putting a compact slide on a full sized grip module).
I have my own SIG P320 at home and so far I think this tool is great for basically designing yourself a whole new gun without the hassle of running down to your local FFL to have a specific firearm ordered. Instead, you get to handpick, preview, purchase, and have all your parts delivered directly to your front door ready to assemble. Hopefully in the future SIG will continue to add other options to the list and provide full previews. A standalone SIG P320 FCU starts at $299 right now from some retailers.
