Ase Utra Oy from Suomi Finland have been manufacturing sound suppressors for hunting, sports and professional use since 1994. Their usual production exceeds over 10,000 units per year and they state that they are one of the world’s largest manufacturers of sound suppressors. Their suppressors are not available in the United States and some other areas due to import regulations and restrictions, but it may still be of interest to TFB readers to see what is going on overseas in the development of suppressors. Nobody’s got an MP7 anyway…
With the Heckler & Koch MP7 gaining in popularity among professional users worldwide, Ase Utra have tailor-made a suppressor for the weapon. According to the company, the new SL4i-SMG-MP7 is extremely light, compact and effective. The suppressor is made out of durable steel and attaches to the Ase Utra Hiper MP7 flash hider, which provides flash suppression when the suppressor is not deployed.

Ase Utra S Series SL4i SMG-MP7 is ultra-compact and efficient suppressor. Developed especially for the Heckler & Koch MP7. Suppressor provides superior flash suppression and causes only ca. 10 % increase in the bolt carrier velocity.
Thread mounting system attaches the suppressor on the Ase Utra HIPER flash hider for MP7.
Sound suppression ca. 27 dB (1 m left of the muzzle), ca. 23 dB (shooters left or right ear). Four different color options; Black, FDE, Coyote and OD Green.

One of the reasons that Finland (and Norway) are large producers of sound suppressors is that they require no license. Suppressors are considered to be a “firearm component”, but can be used without a separate license. (Source)
