These snipers work in stealth. Note the iron sights on this AS Val. As you can see, it has an integral suppressor wrapped around the barrel. I think the Russians may have looked at the HK MP5 SD for the same technology. As the barrel has small ports drilled through it (for the suppression) it should not be used without the suppressor.
