Rite in the Rain has a century-long history that stretches back to the Pacific Northwest’s early 20th century lumber trade. The basic question was posed, “Isn’t there a better way to record the scaling of logs and the tallying of lumber in the inclement Pacific Northwest weather?”. From that early niche application, they have grown into the broader scope of outdoors activities, and have been serving the military and other shooters/outdoorsmen for decades. Myriad warfighters have relied on Rite in the Rain products to take down important notes in the field, where information is regularly a life-or-death matter and the fragility of normal paper can be a liability. Now the company is adding a new product to their catalogue, a 100-meter sniper target, once again catering to the many shooters in their customer base.
This is not Rite in the Rain’s first foray into target production. Many military veterans will quickly recognize the 25 meter zeroing target shown above. This tried and true “No. 9125” target has taken countless rounds on endless rifle ranges for many years, often in inclement weather. With the signature weather-resistant design, marksmen can continue to train without dealing with soggy, disintegrating targets. Now Rite in the Rain seeks to provide that same functionality to long-range precision shooters with their new “No. 9131” sniper target. The press release announcing the milliradian-based target’s introduction reads as follows.
New Rite in the Rain All-Weather 100m Sniper Target
Versatile Sniper Target Facilitates 100-Meter Zero and Effective Target Practice
The No. 9131 is a dedicated milliradian-based target for precision shooters. Its 1 cm (1/10 mil at 100 meters) grid is designed for true-distance zeroing. A 1 cm block within the central diamond defines the point of aim when using high-magnification optics. Scaled bullseye and scoring rings represent an MR-1 target presented at 500 meters. 1, 2, and 3 MOA rings check grouping in accordance with published standards. Preformatted fields assist in the calculation of data on previous engagements (DOPE). Durable and weatherproof Rite in the Rain cardstock holds up under rain and through abuse to deliver well-defined groups, no matter the conditions.
