POTD: A Rifle With A View – Heckler & Koch G36 A3

This Gewehr 36, or G36, is looking over the largest multinational training area in Europe. The location is Grafenwöhr in eastern Bavaria, Germany. The Grafenwoehr Training Area is located directly south-west of the town, and became an important training site for the U.S. Army and allied forces after the World War II. As you can see, it is still in use, and it also looks like there’s plenty of room for the 5.56×45 mm to stretch out.

The G36 is made by Heckler & Koch and this G36 A3 model also includes a telescopic sight as part of the “Infantryman of the Future” system. Above you’re looking at the Hensoldt 4x30i Intermediate Range Targeting Optic (bottom) and the Hensoldt RSA-S Reflex Sight (Short range collimator sight for close quarters combat) on top.

The side view can be seen below, and you can also spot the laser designator.

Thanks for looking at our Photo Of The Day. We’ll be back again tomorrow and hope to see you then as well.
