POTD: Hunting Season With The Leica Calonox

October, it’s getting darker and the hunting season is upon us! This is the theme for our Photo Of The Day. The picture above serves as a reminder of all the gear we need to keep track of.

It’s also a reminder that the market for thermal imaging is set to explode, with releases from companies like Pulsar, Zeiss, Leica and many others.

The Leica Calonox thermal imaging camera should be available already now or very soon, and TFB is going to try one out later this year. There are two versions: Leica Calonox “View” which is a pure observation device, and Leica Calonox “Sight”, a clip-on device for mounting on the riflescope.

The Leica Calonox “Sight” has been consistently designed to meet the requirements as an add-on device to mount on a riflescope.

The Leica Calonox uses Leica’s own image processing – Leica Image Optimization (LIO).

The Leica Calonox View has 16 GB of internal memory for recording special observations as photos or videos.

    The image quality looks stunning.

We also have the Leica 5-30x56i PRS Riflescope on trial, with a review probably within a month.
