HOT GAT or FUDD CRAP? Is this Eagle Soaring or Just Boring?

Welcome everyone to the 70th edition of ‘Hot Gat or Fudd Crap?’, one of our many series here on TFB. If you’re new to the series, this is where we look at the most obscure firearms that are actually for sale and ask the question – is this Gat a sweet deal or only have Fudd appeal?  Each week the TFB staff weighs in with their thoughts, but readers get the final say in the poll at the bottom of each article.

In our last edition, our poll showed that you, the readers, decided the ‘Colt M4’ was a very hot gat.

At this time the original auction has ended, and sadly the Colt did not sell.  We can only hope the seller decided to hang on to this pair, or that they’ve found a suitable home.

In this week’s edition of HGFC, we look at a White Tiger Stripe Desert Eagle. As is tradition, this magnum hand cannon is currently up for sale on GunBroker for $4,995 Buy It Now.

Let’s see what the Staff had to say about this week’s offering:

“Are you a heavily-clichéd drug dealer in 1985? Do you watch ‘Lord of War’ and identify with André Baptiste Jr.? Do you have more money than sense? Then here’s the ostentation for you!” – Will P.

“When you are going to have that famous boating accident you need an anchor in style, this is it” – Giorgio O.

“I don’t care if this is the last tiger on earth, I’m putting it down.” – Pete

“Animal cruelty at its worst” Matt M.

“Does your New Jersey cougar den need protecting AND another animal print? Have we got an investment for you!” – Nick L.

“I wouldn’t be surprised to see this open carried in a cheap nylon holster on People of Walmart.”  – Doug E.

“Does ugly man jewelry not cut it for you? Need to compensate even more? Have we got the gun for you!” – Nick C.

“Do you want this in tiger stripe or gold plated or grim reaper?”

    “Yes.” – James Reeves

Selling this rarest of desert eagles is GunBroker seller FANCYBULLETS, located in Las Vegas NV.  Let’s see what they had to say about this multi-caliber magnum.

Where do I even start with a gun like this?  Do we address the tiger in the room, or try and figure out why there’s a grim reaper on the grip?  I’m strangely awestruck at the amount of dedication and money that was spent on this project.

Not that it’s a new feature, but I think the new Magnum Research handguns might have more Picatinny rails than most modern AR-15’s. I guess when your handgun is over four pounds you might as well add some accessories. However, a red dot is going to cover up that sweet gold front sight post.

Clearly, this is one of those guns where beauty is in the eye of the beholder (or something along those lines), and a Desert Eagle is an objectively cool handgun. Is it practical or even remotely reasonable to own? No. Is this particular one too outlandish even for the Desert Eagle world? Well as always, I leave that up to you, the reader to decide.
