Modlite has become the go-to weapon light for people who want the best performance. Their PLH and OKW outperform any other weapon light on the market for the same size package. They are based on the SureFire Dual Fuel Scout Light pattern so they can use the same bodies, mounts and tail caps. One minor issue with running a SureFire tape switch is the high amp draw of these lights. The factory SureFire tape switch has too much resistance and dims the lights. So Modlite collaborated with Unity Tactical and now has the ModButton Lite.

Modlite’s first collaboration with Unity Tactical was their original ModButton seen above. It uses the Unity Tactical Fusion mounting system so you can mount a Modlite or SureFire Scout Light compatible light onto it.

While the ModButton is great, it is a little bit limiting. It is only for the Scout Light style flashlight. Unity Tactical has their Hot Button which comes in either Picatinny or M-LOK and you can get one for SureFire or a laser.

Well, the ModButton Lite appears to be an evolution of the ModButton. You lose the Fusion compatibility but now you can get one for your Surefire Scout Light style weapon light and a laser. Also, the ModButton Lite is modular. It is both Picatinny and M-LOK compatible.

What really sets the ModButton Lite apart from other remote tape switches is its size and modularity. The Hot Button is cool but take a look at the image above. With just one of each ModButton Lite, one for SureFire and one for Laser, you have a very compact switch setup that takes up the same space as a traditional tape switch.

The ModButton Lite was released last Friday, October 9, 2020 however this is only for the SureFire plug variant. They come in 4.5″ or 7″ length cables. The Laser plug version and the M-LOK adapters won’t be available until October 23. According to Modlite’s website, the ModButton Lite sells for $78. You have a choice of FDE or Black.
