Photo Of The Day – The muzzle blast of the machine gun lights up the dark and dense forest as the Brigade Franco-Allemande (French-German Brigade) does a surprise attack. The machine gun is MG3, made by Rheinmetall and chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO. We’re looking at the 3rd Company of the Jägerbataillon 292 as they practice fighting in the forest.
Stay alert and prepared: the terrain is unknown, there is little visibility and the enemy can be anywhere.
Interesting to see the Heckler & Koch G3 still in use. It’s still a powerful DMR. Note the riflescope and laser unit.
The Heckler & Koch G36. While it will take years, the G36 is going to be phased out.
The French/German combined military unit was created in 1989. The soldiers are located in Müllheim and there are units stationed on both sides of the river Rhine. The unit has a size of about 6,000 people.
