POTD: The Machine Gun Mule

    POTD: The Machine Gun Mule

Each day a different image from the World of firearms. We call this POTD, short for Photo Of The Day, which is our daily article series where we go to great length trying to find the most interesting pictures for you out there. It’s easy to make fun of a mule, but once you start climbing the mountain – or a flat road for that matter – with heavy loads at least I’d be grateful for their existence.

Note the Heckler & Koch HK416F on the soldier’s back. The firearm only has open sights for some reason. He seems to be loading the anti-tank mule.

The unit is called the “7e Bataillon de Chasseurs Alpins.” Looks like a very steep mountain, and you might think that the mule is propelled by rockets.

Have you ever used animals like mules or horses as help in the military?

All pictures from Armée de Terre, the French Army.
