Continuing to expand the line of rifles dedicated to their new home, Wyoming, Weatherby has released another custom iteration of their iconic Mark V bolt action rifle called Mark V Cowpoke Edition. The rifle is painted in the colors of Wyoming Cowboys and also has the logo of the football team on the magazine floorplate.
In the press release and description of this rifle, Weatherby says:
If you’ll be out exploring Wyoming’s great hunting opportunities instead of sitting in the bleachers cheering on the Wyoming Cowboys this fall, you can still show off your Wyoming pride! This rifle is loud and proud to be made in Wyoming! If you drew a Ram tag in Colorado, or plan to hunt Cougars in Utah, this rifle can reach out and poke’m.
The Weatherby Mark V Cowpoke Edition rifle is available in one of the following caliber options: .257 Wby Mag, .30-378 Wby Mag, .300 Wby Mag, 6.5 Wby RPM, 6.5-300 Wby Mag. The rifles chambered in 6.5 Weatherby RPM have a 24″ #3 contour barrel, an overall length of 46-1/4″ and an overall weight of 7.3 lbs. Mark V Cowpoke Edition rifles chambered in all other calibers have 26″ barrels of the same contour, 48-1/4″ length and weigh in at 8.3 lbs. Depending on the caliber choice, the magazine capacity is 2+1, 3+1 or 4+1.
The brown/gold finish on the metal parts is Cerakote. The hand-laid fiberglass raised comb Monte Carlo profile stock has a brown base color with gold and white sponge pattern. The rifle also features a TriggerTech trigger, 54-degree bolt throw and Accubrake ST muzzle break which is advertised to reduce the felt recoil by up to 53%. Like other Mark V rifles, this one is also “guaranteed to shoot a 3-shot group of .99” or less at 100 yards (SUB-MOA) from a cold barrel when used with Weatherby factory or premium ammunition“.
Regardless of the caliber choice, all versions of Weatherby Mark V Cowpoke Edition rifles have an identical MSRP of $2,499. The lead time is 90-120 days.
