Glock 44, the first rimfire pistol of the famous Austrian handgun manufacturer, was released right before SHOT Show 2020 and arguably was one of the most significant new products of the show. G44 has the same external dimensions as the G19 but it is a blowback pistol chambered in .22 LR. To have a proper slide weight (within G19 slide dimension) for reliable operation of the rimfire blowback action, the pistol has a hybrid slide design – steel slide core wrapped in a polymer outer sleeve. Well, there have been some reports about the unsatisfactory rigidity of these slides which we can’t confirm as we haven’t witnessed any slide issues after running thousands of rounds while testing these guns and shooting them at our booth during the SHOT Show range day. Anyways, for those who for the mentioned or any other reason don’t like the original G44 slide design or want to mount red dot sights on the G44, now there is an aftermarket alternative. Nelson Precision Manufacturing has released a machined aluminum G44 slide called 44X.

Nelson Precision 44X slide is machined out of billet 7075 aluminum and has a hard coat anodized finish. This slide features optics cut compatible with Trijicon RMR and SRO red dot sights. The slide cover plate and red dot cut cover plate are made of aluminum, too. The 44x slide is shipped stripped but it is compatible with all the OEM G44 slide parts. For optimum performance, the company recommends using high quality and high velocity .22 LR ammunition.

So let's take $350-$400 rimfire pistol and add another $200 to it so we can perfect .22 long rifle perfection. Am I the only one who sees something odd about Glocksters?

@John Shepherd Well celarly you have not met the AR guys that buy the $2500 optic on their 800 dollar ARs yet

The article failed to mention the BoogeyMan Customs "Voodoo" version of the Nelson Precision 44X slide,

Although more "Gucci", the added cuts further reduce the weight, increasing reliability with a broader range of ammo. Reportedly, The 44X Voodoo slide with a Trijicon RMR weighs one ounce less than the OEM Glock 44 slide (without an RMR).

@Joe Stone Funny thing is, this is the one time where extensive lightening cuts probably make a LOT of sense, since you're compensating for the additional weight of the optic.
