POTD: Norwegian Special Operation Commando – Door Gunner

Norwegian Special Operation Commandos (NORSOC) don’t always ride in helicopters, but when they do they ride the Bell 412 SP with a Minigun on the side. That’s the topic for our Photo Of The Day. Their standard firearms are Colt Canada C8SFW, C8CQB or the Heckler & Koch HK416.

Here we can see one of their door gunners, in a Bell from the 339 Special Operation Aviation Squadron. There appears to be one on the other side as well.

Below: Norwegian Police helicopter AW169 with Norwegian Special Operation Commando (NORSOC) during an exercise in Norway. The Norwegian Police don’t have any Miniguns. Yet. In fact, Norwegian police officers do not regularly carry firearms. Their firearms are normally locked down in the patrol cars. ( Source)

TFB’s Photo Of The Day – Established in 2014 this is TFB’s way to show carefully selected photographs on a daily basis. As a bonus, you get a short story and hopefully, you’ll learn something new. We also welcome comments in the intended section below.

Door gunner seems like both the coolest and most miserable job out there.

it's great, I just want to know where that picture came from.
