Subject: Photo Of The Day
Location: Kaneohe Bay Range Facility, Hawaii.
A shooting range with a view, but challenging winds and altitude differences!
We’re at the Marine Corps Base in Hawaii, Kaneohe Bay, looking at a sniper assigned to the HHC Scout Platoon, 1st Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division. The rifle seems to be an M2010 Enhanced Sniper Rifle with a riflescope from Leupold. It uses the .300 Winchester Magnum cartridge.
The sniper is conducting high angle precision shooting at Kaneohe Bay Range Facility, where each sniper team went through a stress shoot to improve team dialogue, rapid engagements, and the fundamentals of long-range marksmanship.
Shooting from a tripod may look easy, but anyone who has tried knows that it’s far from being easy. Perhaps easier than shooting offhand, but not as steady as shooting prone from a bipod.
