Weatherby has teamed up with MeatEater outdoor company to release a new iteration of their Vanguard bolt action rifle. The company describes the new Vanguard MeatEater rifle as a “culmination of in-field experience, trends, and Meat Eater’s personal touches rolled into a collaboration between two top brands in the outdoor industry“. Let’s see what features these rifles pack.
Weatherby Vanguard MeatEater rifle is available in one of the following caliber options: 300 Weatherby Magnum, .300 Winchester Magnum, .308 Winchester, 6.5 Creedmoor; 6.5-300 Weatherby Magnum and 7mm Remington Magnum. This is the first Weatherby rifle to feature a spiral fluted barrel. The barrel is cold hammer forged, has a threaded muzzle (1/2×28) and comes with a thread protector. The barrel length is 24″ or 26″ for non-magnum and magnum calibers respectively. The overall length of the rifle is 44.5″ or 46.5″. You can also order the Vanguard MeatEater rifle with a Weatherby Accubrake muzzle brake which when installed, increases the overall length of the rifles by two inches. Depending on the caliber choice, the magazine capacity is 3, 4 or 5 rounds and the overall weight of the rifle is 7 or 7.15 lbs.
The stock of the Vanguard MeatEater rifle has a Monte Carlo comb, textured grip and forearm, and comes with a Vanguard recoil pad installed. The base color of the stock is black and the added gray and brown colors create quite a nice pattern. The rifle also features a three-position safety and adjustable two-stage trigger. The receiver, bolt, barrel and bottom metal are coated with Cerakote finish of Tungsten and Graphite Black colors.
On the Weatherby’s website, you can find the following statement concerning the accuracy of the rifle: “All Vanguard rifles are guaranteed to shoot a 3-shot group of .99” or less at 100 yards (SUB-MOA) from a cold barrel when used with Weatherby® factory or premium ammunition within Two-Years of Verified Purchase Date to Original Purchaser“.
Weatherby Vanguard MeatEater Special Edition rifle is listed on the company’s website at an MSRP of $999. These rifles are available only via Weatherby or Sportsman’s Warehouse.
