New From Faxon Firearms: Fill-In Magazine Marker Bands

New From Faxon Firearms: Fill-In Magazine Marker Bands

Faxon firearms have added a new product to their line of firearms accessories. The new Fill-In Magazine Marker Bands are a cheap and easy way to keep your magazines marked when they are loaded. These marker bands could keep an unaware individual from loading the wrong ammunition into your rifle.

Each magazine marker band comes with the Faxon logo on two sides as well as two blank spaces for writing in the caliber. This is in stark opposition to their previous release of pre-printed magazine marker bands that came in different colors and markings to denote various calibers that could be loaded into a standard capacity magazine.

These new magazine marker bands allow the user to write in their own caliber. For me, this might be useful as I have several calibers that are uncommon but will also fit in a standard capacity AR-15 magazine.

The bands seem to only come in one color at the moment – bright white. Faxon has not stated whether or not they plan to release band packs in other colors as of writing.

Properly marking your magazines could prevent a catastrophic discharge of a firearm that could harm or kill you. For example, 5.56/223 and 300 Blackout share the same magazine and platform and with some bullets, you can insert a live 300 Blackout round into a 5.56 chamber and close the action. Firing a .30 caliber bullet in a .22 caliber bore will inevitably lead to a catastrophic failure. Knowing what is in your magazine by being able to quickly identify the writing (or color) of the band on the outside is a useful non-permanent modification to your magazine.
