Today’s Photo of the Day comes courtesy of the UK’s Royal Navy which has recently unveiled a new uniform and flash for the elite Royal Marines Commando units. The photos feature the new uniform manufactured by US-based Crye Precision.

The Royal Marines Commandos trace their history back to World War Two when the first units were formed in 1942. The new RM Commando flash/patch reflects this and was inspired by the original World War Two shoulder flashes as is the new 3 Commando Brigade patch, featuring the Fairbairn-Sykes Fighting Knife.

It has been specifically selected to serve commandos as they carry out operations all around the globe in the most extreme environments.”
