HOT GAT or FUDD CRAP? Regal or Ruined Glock 19?

Welcome everyone to the 54th edition of ‘Hot Gat or Fudd Crap?’, one of our many series here on TFB. If you’re new to the series, this is where we look at the most obscure firearms that are actually for sale and ask the question – is this Gat a sweet deal or only have Fudd appeal?  Each week the TFB staff weighs in with their thoughts, but readers get the final say in the poll at the bottom of each article.

In our last edition, our poll showed that you the readers, decided Val’s Ruger LCP’s were in fact hot gats.

I decided to break from the deeply honored tradition that is HGFC to bring you this post, and honestly, I’m not sure if I’ll ever do it again but in the meantime back to our regularly scheduled programming!

In this week’s edition of HGFC, we look at a self-described Regal Gen 5 Glock 19. As is tradition, this bespoke blaster is currently up for sale on GunBroker with a current bid of $380 and No Reserve.

Let’s see what the Staff had to say about this week’s offering:

“It is like the 1911 engraver showed up to work drunk, wandered into the wrong department, and carved out a Glock by accident. When he wakes back up from passing out during his lunch break he’ll moan in agony over so intimately fondling a Glock all morning.” -Adam S.

“If you ever have to use this defensively, you are required to say “You’ve yeed your last haw.” Will P.

“It’s almost like a 1911 transitioning into the Glock it identifies as” – James Reeves

“An elegant weapon, for a more civilized age.” – Matt M.

“A fancy Glock for formal occasions” – Nick C.

“Perfect for that pompous funsucker friend”- Mike R.

Selling this dignified gat is GunBroker seller AltamontCo, located in Thomasboro IL.  Let’s see what they had to say about this engraved Glock.

ALTAMONT® is pleased to introduce its Glock 19 Gen 5 REGAL Custom Model. An ALTAMONT® exclusive. FACTORY NEW. UNFIRED.

This custom Glock 19, chambered in 9x19mm, is the perfect fit to any collection. Designed and engraved by Merlin Enright, it is an ALTAMONT® Exclusive. The spectacular deep relief engraving features custom Scroll Engraving with Stippled accents. This is bold American engraving at its finest.

HGFC has featured more than a few modified Glocks, but this one stands out in an entirely different way.  Usually, the recipe for Glock modifications involves stippling, trigger jobs, or the addition of tacky custom backplate. This custom work, however, is strangely the opposite.

Elaborately modifying a Glock is one thing, but when it’s only the slide, I just can’t seem to look away.  Don’t get me wrong, the engraving that’s been done to the slide is incredible in terms of quality.  All that engraving sitting on top of an unmodified polymer frame just seems a bit off.

Perhaps what we’re seeing here is some of the old guard adopting striker-fired pistols.  Or perhaps a custom order that someone backed out of.  Either way, the gun will sell when the auction ends, but it’s up to you, the reader, to decide it’s fate here.
