Cryptic bolts are compatible with any mil-spec buffer and spring assembly as well as other aftermarket offerings such as the JP and Armaspec systems. The new bolts feature an extra heavy-duty 4140 heat-treated steel, an external extractor specifically designed for the 9mm case as well as a removable counterweight.

These above features are then combined with the most advanced coating in the industry to create an unstoppable option for any 9mm build. The bolt comes backed with a lifetime guarantee on all of their bolt carriers and Cryptic Coatings is dedicated to standing behind their products in the event of a failure.

The Mystic series of coatings boasts several advantages over other bolt carriers coatings including increased lubricity (reduction of friction), wear resistance, smoother recoil, faster cyclic rates, easier cleaning, and reduced carbon fouling.

Cryptic states that their bolt is also compatible with most aftermarket triggers. Personally, I’d be interested to see if it is compatible with my Fostech Echo Gen II trigger as there tend to be some safety issues when combining the trigger with non-standard components. The aluminum guide key (which replaces the gas key that would normally be on an AR-15 bolt carrier) is installed with self-locking bolts which eliminate the need for staking.

The Cryptic Coatings 9mm chemical vapor deposition and physical vapor deposition coatings still allow the bolt to come in several colors including Mystic Gold, Mystic Black, Mystic Bronze, and Mystic Silver. Each bolt is sold at a price of $210.00 and can be purchased directly from the Cryptic Coatings website.

I have had a Mystic Black for 4 or 5 years now (don't remember exactly), I don't know if it has helped reliability or sound but it is showing very little wear and looks marvelous. So I can vouch for it being pretty and staying that way if nothing else. Oh, and it is easy to clean. I don't imagine that a wiser person than me would splurge on one though.

@Vic Nighthorse The Mystic Black is awesome. All you need to do is look at it and the carbon and crap falls off. I have 2 now. I wish they offered BCGs for different guns.

This is exciting. Cryptic coatings are worth every penny. The bolt literally wipes clean to a mirror finish with a dry cloth.
