AR-15 vs. AK-47: Sub-Zero Freezing Torture Test
In this episode of TFBTV, James Reeves puts the AK-47 and the AR-15 against each other in a sub-zero freezing torture test. Both guns were placed in freezing temperatures well below negative 20 degrees Fahrenheit for over 7 hours. They were then removed from the icebox and shot immediately to see which one could get through an entire magazine of ammo. Spoiler alert: Only one gun came out on top. Which one do you think won the challenge?
James refinished the AK in Brownells Alumahyde after the test. Here’s a link to the Alumahyde. **If you buy Alumahyde, buy extra spray nozzles – this is not optional. Alumahyde jams up spray nozzles very quickly and you’ll almost certainly need at least 2 nozzles to get through a paint job.**

You said these were new? Any chance the factory assembly lube was still in that bolt? What you really might be testing is the freezing characteristics of the different greases and oils used in both guns. Seems to eliminate this factor both guns should be cleaned thoroughly and then either froze with no oils or with the same oil, ideally rated for sub-zero temps which most are not.
