“Another AR-15 stock adapter for AK-47? Yawn, boring“. That is probably what you thought when you read the title, but then you noticed that bottom extension in the picture of this adapter and realized that this thing is a bit different from what you are used to seeing. The new JMac Customs M4-AKM stock adapter indeed has a really interesting design that makes it extremely robust.

That bottom extension is part of the attachment mechanism. Unlike most of the other AR-15 buffer tube adapters that are fixed in place only at the rear trunnion tang, the JMac Customs M4-AKM adapter also uses the pistol grip as a second attachment point. Having two attachment points, this device should be the most solid stock adapter on the market.

The JMac Customs M4-AKM stock adapter is a drop-in part requiring no modifications to the weapon and can be installed using just a screwdriver. As seen in the above-embedded image, the extension that replaces the original pistol grip nut is separate from the actual buffer tube adapter and is attached to the latter via a screw. This allows aligning the adapter with the pistol grip nut hole in the receiver and tightening the whole assembly after the pistol grip is installed as shown in the installation video below.

The buffer tube attachment part of this adapter is made of 7075-T6 aluminum and has a hard coat anodized finish. The pistol grip nut extension is made of 4140 steel and has a nitrided finish. This adapter also provides two QD sling swivel sockets and raises the cheek weld by 3/8″. Its overall weight is 3.4 oz.

The JMac Customs M4-AKM stock adapter is listed on the company’s website at an MSRP of $97.95.

As long as all the screws are properly installed, I can’t imagine a situation where this adapter will come loose. What do you think about it?
