The battle between steel barrels versus carbon fiber wrapped battels rages on, and Bartlein Barrels now offer the latter as well. If you’re prepared to wait, you can also get them in various colors to give that last detail to your rifle build.
There is typically a 20-25% weight reduction compared to full steel barrels of same contour, which can be both a benefit or the opposite depending on what you use your rifle for. More weight means less recoil.
One of the biggest advantages for shooting, apart from carbon fiber looking cool, is probably that carbon fiber composites are both lightweight and can withstand heat with very little thermal expansion.
Below is the announcement from Bartlein Barrels:
It’s been a hard thing to keep under wraps, no pun intended. But Bartlein Barrels is now offering Carbon wrapped barrels!!
We have been helping test these for a few months now and all I can say is they are very impressive. Same Bartlein accuracy and no point of impact shift at all as the barrel warms.
Plus as a Bonus, GA Precision with be exclusively offering A colored option in 3 colors. Red/Brown, Green and White. These colors really pop against the sunlight and accent various colors offered by the composite and painted chassis stocks offered.
