SureFire – Flash Hiders & Muzzle Brakes Can Now Be EAR99 Exported

    SureFire just released some very positive news, both for them as an exporting company and their customers overseas.

    Due to new rules flash hiders and muzzle brakes from Surefire (and possibly other manufacturers) won’t require an export license (in most cases).

    This should be pretty good news overall for exporting companies, or for those in the firearms business who would like to reach out to fans worldwide and export more!

    For customers in Europe and other areas this is wonderful and hopefully more will come.

    EAR99 – What does it mean?

    The US Bureau of Industry and Security explains this in this FAQ:

    If your item falls under U.S. Department of Commerce jurisdiction and is not listed on the CCL, it is designated as EAR99. EAR99 items generally consist of low-technology consumer goods and do not require a license in most situations. However, if your proposed export of an EAR99 item is to an embargoed country, to an end-user of concern, or in support of a prohibited end-use, you may be required to obtain a license.

    Fountain Valley, CA—SureFire, LLC, manufacturer of the world’s finest—and most innovative—illumination tools and tactical products, is pleased to announce an export regulation reform by the United States departments of State and Commerce has streamlined the export process for SureFire flash hiders and muzzle brakes.

    Under new rules that went into effect March 9, 2020, SureFire flash hiders and muzzle brakes, formerly classified as Significant Military Equipment (SME), now fall under EAR99 (Export Administration Regulations) and no longer require an export license in most circumstances.

    “This is a huge win for our end-users overseas,” said Jeremy Rosenberg, V.P. of Sales and Marketing for SureFire, LLC.

    “While there are still export restrictions that may apply in some areas, this policy change makes it easier than ever for most SureFire customers around the globe to obtain the world’s finest flash hiders and muzzle brakes.”
