Welcome everyone to the 47th edition of ‘Hot Gat or Fudd Crap?’, one of our many fantabulous series here on TFB. If you’re new to the series, this is where we look at the most obscure firearms that are actually for sale and ask the question – is this Gat a sweet deal or does it only have Fudd appeal? Each week the TFB staff weighs in with their thoughts, but readers get the final say in the poll at the bottom of each article.
In our last edition, our poll showed that you the readers, decided the Techno Arms MaG-7 was pure fudd crap.
At this time that this article was written, the original auction remains up with the MaG-7 still up for grabs. We hope it finds a suitable home soon.
In this week’s edition of HGFC, we are looking at a skull-charged Saiga 12. As is tradition, this tactical shotgun is currently up for sale on GunBroker for $3,799 with No Reserve.
HOT GAT or FUDD CRAP?
Sweet Side-folding Saiga or Trailer Trash Mania?
Let’s see what the Staff had to say about this week’s offering:
“When a young Russian man decides to make a punisher shotgun in his garage and then sells it out of shame.” – Matt E
“This is why the machines will rise up and kill us… because this is what we do with 2,000 years of technological advancements… Terminator charging handles…” – Adam S.
“For the truck driver with poor taste who wants his fudd crap to match his stick shift.” – Nick C.
“That’s like the gun equivalent of one of those dead-head 70s conversion vans.” – Hop
“<Buy a shotgun!> And with this one, the skull will scare the s#*t out of them, while you <fire two blasts outside the house>!” – Giorgio O.
Selling this high capacity Saiga is GunBroker seller lifeguard45, located in Columbus NC. Let’s see what they had to say about this custom shotgun.
Note: Description has been edited due to length
Virtually all our SAIGA 12 & 20 guns have had our LOW BRASS/LOW RECOIL AMMO port mods as well as other enhancements. This is a NEW Saiga Model IZ-109 that has been converted by our gunsmiths.
Here is a list of what else has been done. First the FCG has been moved forward and a US Made FCG has been installed with an Overtravel limiter and reshaping and polishing done to it first. A Tromix Trigger Guard was added as well as a Custom fore grip that comes with the 2, side rails as well as a bottom rail for lights or grips (optional).
The internal rails polished, the BHO modified, the internal spring for recoil has been changed and the BHO spring modified. The trigger pull is approx 4.5 lbs. but can be lowered by us if desired, optional extra 19″ barrel. A Hogue Overmolded Grip has been installed. Paint has been touched up with a solvent resistant Ceramic based paint.
While I think Galil-style charging handle was a good idea, topping it off with a skull is a decision I’ll never understand.
Of course it wouldn’t be that quintessential “tactical” shotgun without some sort of standoff breacher style choke attached.
All jokes aside, this is a Saiga someone could actually salvage. The only problem is the price tag. At just under four grand you better hope that custom work is really that good. And who knows, maybe it is. I’ll let you be the judge.
What do you think? Is this skull-charged shotgun a Hot Gat or just trashy Fudd Crap? Be sure to let us know in the comments below, and cast your vote to let us know if this Skull Charged Saiga 12 is a Hot Gat or Fudd Crap:
