IPSC Handgun World Shoot XIX Postponed due to Coronavirus

Anyone involved in competition shooting sports is probably fully aware that the year 2020 will be a year with very few competitions. Also, with a lot of shooting ranges closed the possibilities to do anything than dry training at home are few. One by one everything from small to larger matches have been canceled or postponed, and as many feared (or hoped) the time has now come for the IPSC Handgun World Shoot XIX in Pattaya, Thailand. The match has been postponed to November/December 2021.

This decision also means that the other World Shoot competitions planned will be moved one additional year. What does it mean to you? Well, it means that the PCC World Shoot 2021 (PCC = Pistol Caliber Carbine) to be held in Florida, next year is postponed to 2022.

The official message from the IPSC President, Mr. Vitaly Kryuchin reads:

Dear Regional Directors, Athletes, Instructors, Trainers and Range Officers,
Dear Partners, Sponsors, Patrons and all the IPSC Officials,
I would like to inform you about the decision of the IPSC Executive Council to make a change in the IPSC Calendar for 2020-2022 years.
These changes were approved at today’s meeting according to the majority vote of the IPSC Regional Directors with the request and consent of the host Regions.
    1. Handgun World Shoot XIX and General Assembly 2020, Pattaya, Thailand postponed to November/December 2021.
    2. Shotgun World Shoot IV 2021, Pattaya, Thailand postponed to November/December 2022.
    3. Action Air World Shoot II 2021 is postponed to 2022. The date will be announced later.
    4. PCC World Shoot 2021 is postponed to 2022. The date will be announced later.
IPSC is monitoring the situation and we are following the recommendations provided by the World Health Organization, the GAISF, and other leading health and sports authorities around the world.
We are also fully aware of the recommendations on travel and restrictions imposed by airline companies and Governments.
    Stay Safe!

The photos I have seen from the new shooting range in Pattaya look absolutely fantastic.

I’m not registered to shoot the World Shoot in Pattaya, but I think the decision was the correct one based on that most people will have limited access to training, qualifications and probably limited access to flights.

With another year to prepare the matches and build the ranges, I’m sure the end result will be positive, although I know a lot of people will be disappointed.
