Welcome everyone to the 46th edition of ‘Hot Gat or Fudd Crap?’, one of our many series here on TFB. If you’re new to the series, this is where we look at the most odd and obscure firearms that are actually for sale and ask the question – is this Gat a sweet deal or does it only have Fudd appeal? Each week the TFB staff weighs in with their thoughts, but readers get the final say in the poll at the bottom of each article!

In our last edition, our poll showed that you the readers, decided the 458 SOCOM lever gun was just a little too fudd.

HGFC 458 SOCOM Lever Gun Poll

At this time the original auction remains up, and this 458 SOCOM chambered lever gun is still up for grabs. We hope this tactical lever gat can find a new home in the near future.

In this week’s edition of HGFC, we’re looking at a Techno Arms MAG-7 shotgun, made in South Africa. As is tradition, this tactical shotty is currently up for sale on GunBroker for $1,599.00 with No Reserve.

Let’s see what the Staff had to say about this week’s offering:

“<Competition to SPAS 12/15 and SAIGA…> No, just no. It’s cool until you realize it’s neither auto nor semi-auto.” – Giorgio O.

“Just like Techno, this should be left in the 90’s. Pass on this unless you’re WAYYY into CS:GO” – Rusty S.

    “Who wouldn’t want a giant 5-rd, manual shotgat Uzi?” – Matt M.

”Techno Arms: Am I supposed to dance or shoot the shotgun?” –  Eric B.

Selling this rare African blaster is GunBroker seller CCArmory, located in West Chester PA.  Let’s see what they had to say about this strange-looking shotgun:

Here’s a super unique, collectible piece of hardware…. a Techno Arms 12 Gauge magazine-fed, pump Shotgun. The receiver looks very similar to a large uzi. This was competition for the SPAS 15 / 12 and the Saiga 12. These are made in S. Africa and very rare. Nice wood hardware! We will include a box of mini-shells for this item!  Please see the pictures for the full description. We are an FFL and this must ship to an FFL. No sales to California or anywhere prohibited by law. Please make sure this item is legal to own in your home state prior to bidding. Certified Funds preferred but we can take credit cards through the Gunbroker Checkout System with buyer paying the added fees.

While the ’80s belonged to the submachine gun, the ’90s were all about tactical shotguns.  In 1995 Techno Arms PTY would try to give that market a run for its money.

Competing with giants like the Franchi SPAS-12 and later the Saiga-12, the MAG-7 had some fierce competition.

It should come as no surprise that these shotguns just aren’t as common or sought after in the current market.  The MAG-7 uses a proprietary 60mm 12GA shell length and is only pump action.  This paired with magazines that I’m sure are impossible to find, make it a historically significant, but niche shotgun.

If you’re the collector that just couldn’t get enough of that sweet 90’s tactical shotgun action, this might be just what you’re looking for.  Just remember you’re going to be cutting your own 12GA shells in your basement to feed it.  Hot Gat or Fudd Crap
