SureFire XC2-IRC – Probably NOT Designed for You

PRESS RELEASE FOR PUBLISHING ON MONDAY 4/13/2020 Fountain Valley, CA—SureFire, LLC, manufacturer of the world’s finest—and most innovative—illumination tools and tactical products, wants to shed some light on the XC2-A-IRC. Before we get in to it, you should know this product probably isn't designed for you. This product was designed for a specific end-user who had a requirement for an ultracompact infrared (IR) light & IR aiming laser combination. As such, the XC2-A-IRC is SureFire’s smallest, lightest dedicated IR light and laser combination. Its recoil-proof LED is focused by a multi-faceted reflector to create a broad, 850-nanometer infrared MaxVision Beam® that’s perfect for enhancing the capability and image quality of modern night vision goggles (NVGs). Its 845-nanometer infrared laser stands out when viewed with NVGs and, once zeroed, rarely needs re-zeroing thanks to adjustment screws that stand up to the effects of recoil. It can be powered by a AAA lithium, NiMH or alkaline battery, and its ambidextrous switching provides both momentary- and constant-on activation for ultimate controllability. Ultracompact, lightweight and rugged, the XC2-A-IRC is built to rule the night. About SureFire—Located in Fountain Valley, California, SureFire, LLC is the leading manufacturer of suppressors, high-performance flashlights, weapon-mounted lights, and other tactical equipment for those who go in harm’s way, or anyone who demands the ultimate in quality, innovation, and performance. SureFire illumination tools are used by more SWAT teams and elite special operations forces than any other brand. SureFire is an ISO 9001:2008-certified company.

For a specific end-user that wanted to rule the night, Surefire designed the XC2-IRC. The unit remains unnamed, but they had a requirement for a very compact IR light and IR aiming laser in combination.

Unless your eyes can see the 845-nanometer infrared or you’re used to running around with Night Vision Goggles, you’re not going to have much use of this handgun weapon light. But if you can, this is one of the smallest solutions on the market. Perhaps perfect for the Glock 19X or similar sized handguns?

    Surefire XC2 IRC

Below is from the XC2 IRC’s product page (some double-information from above).

The XC2-A-IRC is SureFire’s smallest, most lightweight dedicated infrared (IR) handgun light. It features a recoil-proof LED that’s focused by a multi-faceted reflector to create our broad 850nm MaxVision Beam perfect for enhancing the capability and the image quality of modern night vision to see clearly and farther into the dark. The XC2-A-IRC’s 845nm infrared laser stands out when viewed with night vision devices and, once zeroed, rarely needs re-zeroing thanks to adjustment screws that won’t back out from the effects of recoil.

The XC2-A-IRC won’t weigh down your handgun, making it a crucial addition to concealedcarry pistols among other applications. Its compact body is constructed of lightweight but strong aerospace aluminum with a Mil-Spec hard anodized finish, so the XC2-A-IRC is rugged enough for everyday carry. Ambidextrous switching provides both momentary-and constant-on activation for precision control.

    Features

      • Lightweight and ultra-compact; great for concealed carry
      • Securely attaches to most Universal-rail-equipped handguns
      • Integrated ambidextrous momentary- and constant-on switching

      • Front loading AAA battery compartment accommodates one lithium battery for extended runtime
      • Two Modes: Infrared illuminator + Laser or Infrared laser only. 50mW Output.

The runtime and output will be reduced when using a rechargeable or alkaline battery

The price for the XC2-IRC is $449.00, but then it is probably not designed for me…
