NEW Gerber Custom Lets You Design Your own EDC Knife
Gerber has been a long time favorite knife and tool manufacturer of mine. Being from my home town of Portland Oregon, the company has made many EDC knives as well as multi-tools and other bladed tools alike. Gerber has just announced that you can now custom design your own every day carry (EDC) knife at Gerber Custom.
NEW Gerber Custom Lets You Design Your own EDC Knife
At the Gerber custom website, you can create your own knife by choosing first between customization and personalization. When you choose to customize your knife, this offers you a near-infinite amount of combinations of handle materials, colors, patterns, blade shapes as well as graphics of just about anything you can imagine. The Personalization option offers you the opportunity to have your knife laser-marked in many fonts with names, dates, and locations of your choosing.
At Gerber, we know better than anyone that pocket knives are personal. We carry them everyday, and both craftsmanship and utility are paramount. Gerber Custom empowers users to take part in the creation process, pairing the precise engineering and reliable quality of our bestselling knives with a unique aesthetic,”
Todd Bischoff, creative director – Gerber.
Normally custom knives are quite expensive. Even having an existing knife custom laser engraved or etched can be pricey. Gerber is trying to stick to their regular method of offering customers a highly functional, premium-grade tool for an honest value. All of the Gerber customized knives are made, assembled, and laser marked in the United States.
“A person’s daily carry knife is nearly part of their identity – it says something about them,” said Karrson Koivisto, product manager for knives and cutting tools at Gerber. “A knife’s design and functionality are foundational, but layering on the capacity to select how every single component looks takes great products to the next level. That’s what Gerber Custom is about—helping consumers step up their daily carry in a way that authentically suits them.”
Gerber Custom is a fairly new division of Gerber having just opened in March. You can check out their website at www.gerbergear.com/custom. To date, the Fastball is available for customization and the StrongArm, Sharkbelly, and US-1 are available to personalize, with more products scheduled for later this year. Prices for each knife will vary depending on personalization options but a full price is given before checkout.

For edc ima go with gonzo or two sun. Great d2, sharp, good build quality. Of course spiderco or benchmade are nicer knives and I have some of both. But I work ed so I'm not going to edc a 200$ knife because I trash knives at work so I'm going to edc a 25-40$ knife. I'll wec (weekend carry) my spiderco and benchmades.
There are various methods of standing out and making sales in budget knife world.
Bells, whistles and CS:GO-quality customization is not one of them.
