Steinel Ammunition is well known as a source for newly manufactured ammunition for many dwindling military surplus loads. Everything from modern loadings to vintage military pistol and rifle ammunition is what can be had from their wide selection of ammo. They have just released their first premium 9mm SCHP 124-grain defensive load.
Steinel Ammunition Unveils Their First Premium 9mm SCHP Defensive Load
The new 9mm 124 grain Sold Copper Hollow Point (SCHP) is intended for use specifically in subcompact guns for every day carry applications. However, according to Steinel, the load is perfectly suitable for any barrel length of 9mm firearm. Their new SCHP design departs from the traditional “cup and core” jacketed hollow point (JHP) style that has existed for years. The SCHP projectiles are made via a combination of EDM (electrical discharge machining) and CNC (computer numerical control) machining. This technique produces premium bullets.
Andy Steinel, the president of Steinel Ammunition explained:
This 9mm Subcompact Carry round is our first mainstream round we’ve added to our product line-up, Although we have come to be known for our premium MILSurp rounds, we figured, even though we all love to go to the range and shoot these amazing classic firearms, we also carry defensive firearms every day. So why shouldn’t we have the same quality ammunition in our EDC as we do in our fine military collectibles?
In addition to Steinel’s premium SCHP bullets, they also use several other high-quality cartridge components to provide customers with a reliable product including brand new Starline nickel-plated cases, CCI primers, and Hodgdon powders. The bullets expand to a diameter of 0.706” when fired from a 3” barrel at 960 FPS. Fired from a 4.7” barrel, the bullet expanded to a diameter of .857” with 1,050 FPS velocity.
Steinel Ammunition’s new 9mm 124 gr. Subcompact Carry SCHP round is available online for $19.99 per 20 round box.
