POTD: ANZAC Pistols in Iraq

Today’s photo features soldiers from New Zealand and Australia training while on deployment in Iraq with Operation Inherent Resolve.

The photo illustrates perfectly how New Zealand has transitioned to Glock 17, a process that began in 2015, while Australia continues to use the venerable Browning Hi-Power. Australia, along with Canada, is one of a number of countries that continue to issue the Hi-Power.

    Here’s the photo’s full caption:

Kalib Pittman, both deployed with Task Group Taji X, participate in routine pistol training at a range at Camp Taji, Iraq, Dec. 30, 2019. U.S. Coalition partners are equipped and trained on multiple tasks during exercises to maintain their proficiency. (U.S. Army photo by Spc. Caroline Schofer)
