Earlier this year at SHOT Show 2020 Diamondback Firearms presented their new DBX57BGFB AR-Pistol chambered in 5.7x28mm. The semi-auto pistol is a lightweight and compact 20 round FN Five-seveN magazine compatible platform set to take advantage of the 5.7x28mm cartridge.
Diamondback Firearms New DBX57BGFB Pistol
My assumption late last year after getting to review the new Ruger-57 pistol was that perhaps the 5.7x28mm cartridge was going to make a resurgence into popularity. Diamondback seems to be at least somewhat confirming this theory as evidenced by its mere existence.

Currently, the DBX57BGFB pistol is compatible with only FN FiveseveN polymer magazines, however, there are plans in the near future to make the pistol compatible with Ruger’s new steel 20 round magazines giving customers a choice to pair the two firearms.
The DBX57BGFB is extremely compact even with the included arm brace. The arm brace comes in a side-folding configuration giving the entire pistol an overall length of just under 17″ folded and just slightly over 25″ extended. These characteristics might make the DBX pistol a viable option as a home-defense pistol or perhaps a gun to toss in the truck or take camping.
The DBX57BGFB is notably compatible with AR-15 mil-spec triggers and pistol grips allowing for a greater variety of customization. The 8″ barrel comes standard threaded in 1/2×28 RH with an included muzzle device unique to the DBX.
Finally, the pistol is partially ambidextrous with the charging handle capable of being mounted to either side of the pistol. The pistol does not come equipped with sights from the factory so either an optic or back up iron sights will have to be provided by the customer after purchase. I think this would go great with a mini red dot given the high rail height over the bore axis.
The Diamondback DBX57BGFB will begin shipping on my 7th, 2020. The price of the pistol is said to be right around $1,200 MSRP which still places this pistol as a less expensive option when compared to the FN FiveseveN.
