Introduced at SHOT Show 2020, the Strike Industries Quick Detach Sling Loop (QDSL) is now available for purchase. This QD swivel features a unique method of detaching from the socket. In order to unlock it, you need to squeeze in the two opposite lock tabs.

Here is how Strike Industries describe this new product on their website:

The Strike Industries Quick Detach Sling Loop is the most revolutionary design for QD attachments to date. With the ability to remove the QD with a single hand, the user can easily squeeze the mechanism for the simplest attachment and detachment. Instead of a traditional push button QD that is tough to disengage, the patent pending side to side mechanism allows for uninterrupted quick attach and detach while the sling is in use. Crafted from 17-4 Stainless Steel and after a quench polish quench (QPQ) process, the durability of the sling loop is greatly increased. The enhanced geometry of the sling loop allows the strap to never pinch, bite, or roll around the interior of the loop allowing for the maximum mobility and comfort in any tactical or training situation.

The SI Quick Detach Sling Loop is available in two versions – Standard and Micro. These swivels differ by the shape of the loop. The dimensions of the two models are as follows: Length: 1.57″ (standard) | 1.07″ ( micro); Height: 1.2″ (standard) | 1.3″ mm (micro), Width: .56″ (standard & micro). The Standard version also has a cutout to center paracord sling loops as shown below.

Both Standard and Micro QDSLs are listed on the company’s website at an MSRP of $19.95.

I had a chance to play with this QD sling swivel at SHOT Show 2020. Squeezing the tabs to detach the swivel is quite intuitive and requires minimal force, however, at the same time, it pretty much prevents the possibility of accidentally detaching the swivel because both tabs must be pressed in simultaneously and the likelihood of that happening unintentionally (by bumping it or snagging on gear) is close to zero.
