We all know the frustration of trying to chase down your spent brass. Whether it’s a day at the range or shooting on private property we as shooters don’t want to pollute our surroundings with spent casings. Being a “brass goblin” myself, I have always tried my best to save every single piece of brass that I can for reloading. However, I still have yet to find a reliable brass catcher on the market. The new MPA Brass Catcher seeks to solve that problem.

The New Masterpiece Arms MPA Brass Catcher

In what I imagine to be an undoubtedly underrepresented market, Masterpiece Arms (MPA) is putting their version of the brass catcher out there to face the competition. The new MPA Brass Catcher attaches to your Picatinny rail and is adjustable in four directions, front, back, up and down. This is accomplished by several sets of screws that can be loosened to move the two intersecting pieces of the swingarm and then tightening them down to secure them in place.

Further adjustments to the brass catcher can be made by bending the wire housing to get a custom fit on your rifle. Another feature of the brass catcher is the hinge that allows the net to be closed (up against the ejection port) or open (swung 90 degrees away from the ejection port) to allow you to remove the brass without entirely removing the catcher.

Upon first observation, I can already see a few major improvements over other brass catchers currently on the market. First, the mouth of the catcher seems to be generously sized. Often then companies try to make the brass catcher as small as possible in order to keep the slim profile of the gun down, however, in practice, this doesn’t seem to work.

Another good reason to have a very tall and wide mouth for the catcher is so that adjustments can be made in any direction to allow the brass to get away from the ejection port and not cause jams. The 5″x5″x5″ box will accommodate 15+ pieces of full-size short action caliber brass and even more of smaller types of brass. The entire rig weighs 1lb so it shouldn’t add too much weight to the rifle for carrying.
