NEMO recoil reduction bolt carrier group and buffer system, the heart of unbelievably soft recoiling NEMO rifles, is now available as a separate retrofit kit for AR-10 pattern rifles. By installing the NEMO recoil reduction kit into your 308 gas gun, you should be able to faster recover from each shot, easier spot the impacts and do faster followup shots.
Here is how NEMO explains the way this system works:
The technology in the bolt carrier group reduces bolt speeds and felt recoil when the recoiling mass bottoms out in the buffer tube. Other products are designed to minutely dampen the force at the moment the recoiling mass bottoms out, whereas NEMO’s design creates a dynamic solution at the beginning of recoil that creates a low “bottom-out” force. This is accomplished by forcing the buffer to bottom out and start its return before the BCG has finished its recoil cycle. The buffer and BCG momentum are opposite, and the result is a noticeable low impact “bottom-out” force.
The NEMO recoil reduction bolt carrier group and buffer kit includes the assembled BCG, proprietary buffer with hardened and nickel boron coated impact face, mil-spec diameter buffer tube with extended indexing tabs, custom buffer retainer and recoil spring. The bolt carrier group features a titanium firing pin with return spring, tool steel ejector and extractor, one-piece gas ring, and POF USA’s roller cam pin. The kit must be used with direct impingement gas systems only. It is compatible with DPMS and Armalite pattern lower receivers and not compatible with DPMS Gen II and POF Revolution receivers. On the company’s website, you can find information about recommended gas port diameters for certain barrel lengths both for .308 Winchester and 6.5 Creedmoor guns.
