Rock Island Auction Company To Hold The Largest Firearms Auction Ever

Rock Island Auction Company To Hold Largest Firearms Auction Ever

Rock Island Auction Company has announced that with over 5500 consigned lots that consist of over 11200 guns, their February Sporting & Collector Auction will be the largest firearms auction ever held. Besides firearms and edged weapons, the lots also include a variety of other gun-related items such as ammunition, books, optics, accessories, art, parts, magazines, etc.

The Sporting & Collector Auctions were formerly known as  Regional Auctions. These have always been large auctions with around 5000 lots consigned, however, the upcoming one will be the largest. These auctions are different from the Premier Auctions that we normally cover in our articles about the most interesting and expensive guns seen in RIAC catalogs. The Premier Auctions usually have fewer lots consigned (2700 to 3000 or so) but among these lots, there are always dozens of one of a kind guns many of which have been sold for over a million bucks and set world records. As opposed to the Premier Auctions, the Regional/Sporting & Collector Auctions don’t have such extremely rare and expensive guns. For example, the highest estimated price in this Sporting & Collector Auction is $30,000 for the John Ulrich engraved Winchester Model 1866 lever-action rifle shown in the below-embedded image. Nevertheless, the Sporting & Collector Auctions are still extremely interesting and often times contain unique lots.
