Tyrant Designs, known for their high-quality upgrades for AR-15s and common polymer pistols, has a few new components they debuted at SHOT Show 2020 to keep our firearms stylin’ and functioning at their best. We have previously reviewed components on TFB like the Tyrant Designs T-Comp, and found them to function phenomenally so we would not expect anything less with what they had to show us at SHOT Show.

The 1st new component they have up their sleeve is a prototype Glock Extended Slide Release. They also had on display their Mod Grip V2 which was technically released a couple months ago, but was our first time being able to see one in person. Let’s individually take a look at these 2 new pieces from Tyrant Designs and see if they are tempting enough for you to add them to one of your builds!

tyrant designs Glock extended slide release (prototype)

While this component is currently considered a prototype from Tyrant Designs CNC we had the good fortune of being able to see one in person at SHOT Show. They had it on display on an impressive Glock build, and it looked right at home. Once this piece becomes available around roughly March 1st of this year, the available color schemes will be Black/Black, Black/Nickel, or Black/Gold. The Glock Extended Slide Release boasts an enlarged contact area with chevron-style serrations to ensure more positive dexterity and manipulation of the control. The MSRP for this piece in its varying color options is currently set to release at $27.95 each.

Introducing the first ever Glock Extended Slide Release to be CNC Machined! Made from 6061 Aluminum and hardcoat anodized our drop in replacement Glock slide stop is the perfect upgrade for your pistol.

Our Glock extended slide release adds surface area and a raised texture that greatly improves usability for all! It is the perfect upgrade for conceal carry AND competition. Never again will your thumb slip while manipulating your Glock slide release!

When the Glock Extended Slide Release becomes available on March 1st it looks like Tyrant Designs is going to have it available for every Glock pistol model under the sun. The only notable Glock to not make the list would be the new G44 .22 Long Rifle, but a normal G19 Slide Release would likely work for that one as well (do not quote me on that… only a best guess).

The next component that Tyrant Designs had on display was their Mod Grip V2 for AR-15s and other assorted firearms that accept AR-15 patterned grips. This is essentially a 2nd Generation or improved iteration of their best-selling skeletonized Mod Grip. All of the specs for the NEW Mod Grip V2 can be read below as presented by Tyrant Designs:

  • Comfortable (chamfered edges for a smooth feel)
  • Temperature variation resistant
  • Deep ribbing for easy installation
  • Rubber front/back straps to create most comfortable grip ever!
  • Beveled edge near trigger guard
  • Install kit included

The MSRP for the Mod Grip V2 is currently benchmarked at $119.95, and can be purchased in your choice of 5 different finishes: Black, Red, Grey, Blue, and Nickel. Once again, this is a component that you do not need to wait on if this is tripping your trigger, it is currently available at the time of this writing.

A lot of us love to add our own flair and style to the firearms we own because it is simply a reflection of who we are and our individual personalities. That is why components like this are so increasingly popular. You can improve the functionality and reliability of your firearm while upping the attractiveness of your gun as well. Between both of these new pieces from Tyrant Designs, which one would you like to try the most? Let us know all of your thoughts in the Comments below! We always appreciate your feedback.

Just spoke these guys on the phone now, very nice, helpful, and friendly. I had to ask
If that grip is going to be available in the pictured TiN/Gold finish for my over-the-top .300 Crackhouse build, said it will be at some point in the future. I’m pleased.
