[SHOT 2020] CMC Unveils Ruger 10/22 Trigger Pack

Well known and highly regarded for their drop-in AR-15 and AR-10 triggers, CMC has now moved into the rimfire world. Their newest offering is a drop-in trigger pack for the Ruger 10/22. Guys I’ve gotta say I’m really excited about this.

CMC Unveils Ruger 10/22 Trigger Pack

I (along with 50,000 of my closest friends here at SHOT) got the opportunity to play around with the trigger pack. While CMC would have been totally justified in simply making a trigger with almost no other modifications, they didn’t. They went above and beyond and made something I have every intention of purchasing for my own personal use.

The CMC Ruger 10/22 trigger pack comes with a button bolt open as opposed to the standard lever hold open. They include an auto-drop bolt catch in the pack, something that most Ruger 10/22 owners buy almost immediately.

Note the button bolt drop and lever mag release. Both are incredibly intuitive, and the texturing makes them easy to use.

The magazine release is a push-lever that is off to one side of the trigger guard. It is fully ambidextrous, which I (lefty) have to appreciate. CMC will also be coming out with different paddle options for the mag release, for further customization.

Now as I’m sure you’ve all been wondering, what about the trigger? The trigger itself is essentially identical to one of CMC’s existing 3.5lb drop-in AR triggers, scaled down for the 10/22. They are going to be offering flat, curved, and combat-curved triggers. When I played with it, there was almost no uptake, a crisp clean break, and zero overtravel. It’s probably the best 10/22 trigger I’ve ever played with.

One of the small features that almost wasn’t brought up, but which I thought was awesome, is that the CMC trigger pack will have a captured ejector. That’s one of the most irritating fiddly bits that you have to deal with when working on your 10/22. I cannot tell you the number of times I’ve had to fight to get that stupid pin to seat properly while reassembling my rifle.

The CMC 10/22 Trigger Packs will have an MSRP of $249, and are planned to hit the shelves “sometime in the next few months”.
