[SHOT 2020] SureFire XR1 & XR2 Rechargeable Pistol Lights

Last year SureFire showed off a couple of lights. Unfortunately they never made it out to the public. The XR1 and XR2 were some of these lights as well as the highly anticipated XLV2. The XLV2 is available now for purchase while the XR1 and XR2 are almost complete.

    XR1 vs XR2

The SureFire XR1 and XR2 are basically rechargeable versions of the XC series lights but with more light. As you can see in the photo above, the XR2 is the laser version. Both the XR1 and XR2 feature dual LEDs. Sort of like dual XC1 heads that put out 300 lumens each for a total of 600 lumens. The XR2 has a laser which is offered in green or red.

See those two screws? The one on the left is for attaching the light to the gun. The other screw is your selector switch. It is too low profile that it is a bit tough to turn. It is easier if you have a screw driver or nails. The XR1 won’t have this since it is just a light. But the XR2 you can select light, laser, or both simultaneously.

One nice feature is that you do not have to remove the light to change the batteries. Last year they bandied about with the idea of magnetic charging and a non replaceable battery. But SureFire changed their minds to have interchangeable batteries.

    XLV2-IRC (For Civilians)

Remember the XLV2? Well it is finally here and they have a civilian version. When I saw the XLV2 last year I was concerned about the battery cap. See the two LED heads below? That is the battery cap. Unscrew it and the LEDs are in your hand. It was too easy to turn last year. Well they increased the tension on the battery cap so there is less chance of it accidentally falling off.

The XLV2 is a complete MFAL (Multi-Function Aiming Laser). It has visible light/laser as well as infrared light/laser.

The selector swtich is on the left side and can easily be rotated without difficulty.

The bottom of the XLV2-IRC has the explanation of what each mode of the selector switch does.

The XLV2-IRC retails for $1349. Go to their website for more information.

    SureFire Scoutlight Pro Mount

Surefire also released a new Scoutlight body/mount called the Scoutlight Pro. It is an articulating mount integrated into a scoulight body. Unfortunately it is not a mount that you can buy for your existing Scoutlight bodies.

The Scoutlight Pro comes with both an MLOK and Picatinny mount. You just remove the pivot screw and install the mount of your choosing. The hinge is held in place by tension from that same screw.

This style of mount is not entirely new. Valhalla Tactical came out with a similar articulating scoutlight body but it is only compatible with the Scoutlight DF/Modite heads. One nice feature of the new Scoutlight Pro mount is that it is machined to clear the body of the light when folded onto itself.

They are making M300 variants of this body/mount. Unfortunately SureFire is not selling the bodies by themselves. I would like them to offer just the body so that way you can upgrade your current Scoutlight body.
