At SHOT Show range day today, Kel-Tec introduced their brand new version of the SUB2000, the SUB2000 CQB. The CQB has an integral suppressor and still folds easily for compact storage. The forend of the rifle actually functions as part of the suppressor, and take-down is extremely easy. You lift a tab and unscrew the front half of the rifle which then slides about an inch forward. The rifle folds in half just like your standard SUB2000.

Like the standard SUB2000, the SUB2000 CQB will be offered in 9mm or 40S&W, and will come in either Glock or “Multi-Mag” configuration. The Glock SUB2000 CQB will of course take Glock magazines. The Multi-Mag version will be able to take any mag catch available in Kel-Tec’s store.

What’s New?

The stock version of the SUB2000 CQB will come with iron sights. Kel-Tec will also be offering a SUB2000 CQB version that will come with a laser, a light, and a red dot all from the factory. While decisions are still being made as to what exact laser, light, and red dot will accompany the rifle, the Kel-Tec rep today floated that they were strongly considering a Vortex red dot, and some version of a Streamlight, possibly a laser/light combo.

Shooting Experience

I had a chance to handle the SUB2000 CQB at the range today, and it was very fun to shoot. There was a Vortex Crossfire red dot sight on top that made target acquisition and shooting a breeze. While as a dirty lefty (southpaw, wrong-hander, etc) I got a faceful of feedback from the suppressor, it was still a great experience. As you would expect from a 9mm PCC, there was very little muzzle rise, and the added weight of the suppressor reduced that even further. The rep at the booth said they were getting around 25db of noise reduction from the suppressor, although that varied.

The stock version of the SUB2000 CQB will retail for around $995, although that price is subject to change. The tricked out model will retail for around $1500.
