Lapua 6.5 Creedmoor Large Rifle Primer Case
For spring 2020 availability, Lapua is releasing a large rifle primer 6.5 Creedmoor case.
In 2016 Lapua released their first 6.5 Creedmoor case, but only with a small primer. Then it was said to be for “accuracy reasons“.
This time, the key selling point is to “provide a reliable ignition with a large primer in the most extreme weather conditions for hunting, competitive shooting, or military / law enforcement support.”
NEW! Lapua 6.5 Creedmoor Large Rifle Primer case
The new 6.5 Creedmoor Large Rifle Primer cartridge cases provide competitive shooters, hunters and Mil/LE operators an option utilizing a large rifle primer for enhanced performance in inclement weather conditions.
The Large Rifle cases improve ignition consistency where extreme temperature swings are prevalent.
The 6.5 Creedmoor LRP offering provides reliable ignition with a large primer in the most extreme weather conditions for hunting, competitive shooting, or military / law enforcement support.
Particularly in the U.S., elite forces and civilians utilize various semi-auto platforms to engage targets at extreme long ranges. The large rifle primed 6.5 Creedmoor cartridges cases are purpose-built to function and perform flawlessly in today’s ever-popular semi-auto gas guns, AR’s, and other similar platforms.
“Lapua Large Rifle Primer, 6.5 Creedmoor cartridge cases provide the same industry-leading consistency and performance benefits of our Small Rifle Primed cases,” stated, Emil Praslick, Business Development Manager USA Tactical Sales. “We’ve found that for some applications, like tactical semi-automatic rifles, a Large Rifle Primer is required to ensure function and performance. Lapua created this product to meet that requirement.”

Oh, the irony. Lapua was once lauded for introducing small rifle primer 6.5CM case (after all, their 6.5x47 used it with excellent result), and look what hapened.
All this discussion of LRP vs. SRP is similar to the discussions concerning hot primers vs. mild primers. The bottom line seems to be test several variations and use what works for you. I shoot a lot in fairly cold (below freezing) weather and use a lot of large, hot primers and have had good results with them.
