Matador Arms Mag-X line of adapters is designed to allow converting AR-15 lower receivers to take pistol magazines for pistol caliber carbine builds. Back in April of 2019, when Matador Arms announced the Mag-X adapter, it was available only for SIG Sauer P320 magazines. Later on, at the end of 2019, the company added CZ-75 and Smith & Wesson M&P magazine compatible versions of the adapter. And today they have announced a new version of the Mag-X adapter that gives an affirmative answer to the most important question in the industry – “Does it take Glock mags?“.
The Matador Arms Mag-X adapters are made of aircraft-grade aluminum and have an anodized finish. The new one designed for Glock magazines takes G19 or larger capacity double stack 9mm Glock mags. The adapter is compatible with mil-spec AR-15 lower receivers and Glock-cut AR-pattern PCC bolts.
The Mag-X adapter is a drop-in part that can be easily installed by the end user requiring no modifications to the lower receiver. It locks in the lower receiver via the AR-15 mag catch and is additionally fixed in place by a hex screw. The screw ensures that the adapter is not held just by the AR mag catch making the overall assembly more secure and preventing accidental dropping or displacing the adapter in case if you hit the AR-15 mag release due to your muscle memory. For releasing the Glock magazine, there is a separate magazine release lever located in front of the magazine. The fixed ejector is also built into the adapter. Both the magazine catch and ejector are made of steel. This adapter has no last round bolt stop mechanism.
The MSRP of Matador Arms Mag-X adapter for Glock magazines is $149.99. Right now it is available at an introductory price os $119.99. The estimated start of shipping is February 2020.
