‘Numerous weapons found by OPP, border services during search’

Pictured are several improvised zip guns, one a modified paintball marker and what appears to be an extensively skeletonized break action airgun among a number of bolt action and break barrel long guns.

Ontario Provincial Police have laid a second set of charges against a man and a woman from Arden after police, alongside the Canadian Border Security Agency, searched their home last week.

While the OPP have been aware of the pair, they ran into them again on Dec. 10 when they were called to a break and enter at a cottage on Graham Road in Central Frontenac Township. The two accused were flushed out of the forest during a canine unit search and arrested.

As a result, 41-year-old Freddy Shorts and 38-year-old Chantell Deschamps of Arden were charged with mischief under $5,000, breaking and entering with the intent to commit an indictable offence, theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, careless use of a firearm, and possession of instruments commonly used for break and enters.

The OPP’s investigation led them to call the Canadian Border Security Agency. Together, on the strength of a search warrant, the two agencies searched the pair’s home on Veley Road in Arden. There they found a cache of weapons and a bunch of stolen property, said police.

“Over 25 long guns were seized that included modified firearms, silencers and homemade guns,” the OPP said. “Combined, hundreds of rounds of shotgun, rifle and pistol ammunition were located.  TheWhig

A certain type of homemade gun is showing up with increased frequency in Winnipeg, and police say they are zeroed in on finding the person, or people, crafting them.

“If you look at how this has been manufactured, this is not simply a bunch of bike parts or pieces from local hardware stores. There’s actually been some thought put into this,” Insp. Max Waddell, head of the police service’s guns and gangs unit, said Tuesday.

“We have seen more and more of this exact model, which tells me that someone in this city is actually manufacturing and selling these. CBC

It actually appears to be made from part of a Pains & Wessex flare projector with a round of .38 Spl literally held in place with wood screws and epoxy. Excellent.

Without the shell in view, 99% of people would not suspect this of being anything more than an innocuous collection of pipes. The example below was seized by the Guatemalan police.

Quite an unusual pistol / SMG which retains a lot of the characteristics of early submachine guns which was seized on the 21st of December in Parana, Brazil. It is chambered in .32 ACP.
