XS Sights is well known for making pistol, shotgun and rifle sights, as well as mounts for optics and backup sights. Their latest set of pistol sights, the RadioActive Material, or RAM Night Sights, focuses on providing a sight set designed to work both day and night. The RAM Night Sights utilize a three-dot system of tritium inserts for shooting at night or in low light, while the front sight incorporates a brightly colored tritium housing for shooting in the daytime. The image below illustrates how this system works in different lighting conditions.
The colored “Ember” tritium housing is designed to glow in the dark, and since they surround a luminous material, they are constantly charged. XS Sights have developed their new RAM Night Sights to work with numerous pistols from five popular pistol manufacturers. We at XS believe in front sight focus. The front sight must stand out in all lighting conditions, from bright light to low light. The rear sight should be simplistic, drive focus to the front, without slowing down sight acquisition, and have crisp corner edges for accurate 4-corner alignment.Tritium night sights need to be visible day and night. RAM front sights are available in an orange or green Ember Glow Dot, offering a high-contrast sight picture in bright light settings. The 0.170″ wide rear notch allows space around the 0.145″ wide front blade. This gap makes front sight indexing much faster, while still allowing for accurate sight alignment. The blacked-out rear keeps the shooter’s focus on the front sight and the threat downrange.
