In the last month, it was announced there will be a new awards ceremony during SHOT Show called The Gundies. A social media marketing firm called Forged Relations came up with an idea to have people vote for their favorite personalities and influencers in the gun community. When I first heard about the Gundies, I started laughing because it’s obviously based on the awards ceremony from an older TV show called The Office.  Let’s jump into some of the details and what the Gundies are all about.

Voting and Idea Behind The Gundies

Voting started on December 1st and it is open to the public. People can vote once per category per day for a total of 10 votes per day. The Gundies have a number of categories for both personalities and gun companies. Companies like SIG Sauer, Microtech, Vaultek and Diamondback Bed Covers are sponsoring the event. This is supposed to be a fun way for the audience to show who they enjoy watching and interacting with most in the gun community.

There are 10 categories in total with 8 categories being individual awards and 2 being awards for companies. Every category is sponsored by a company and every time someone votes for a category they are automatically entered into winning the prize, so the voters also have something to win from voting daily. Depending on the categories, voters have the chance to win everything from a SIG Sauer P320 RX handgun to a Microtech knife. Below I listed the overall categories and directions on how to find it.

How Voting Works:

• Vote at TheGundies.com
• Users can vote once per category, every 24 hours.
• Voting Closes January 1st
• Voting is 100% community-driven, the more your followers vote the better.
• The Top 4 nominees in each category will receive an exclusive invite to the Award Ceremony on January 20th in Las Vegas the evening before SHOT Show

Prizes:

Each sponsor has donated a prize for their category. Each time a user votes in that category they are automatically given an entry towards that giveaway prize. The more times they vote the higher their chances of winning.

Overall Thoughts

I think this is a great way to really give the community a voice and show who they enjoy watching and interacting with. It gives voters and various personalities a chance to all come together and celebrate the industry and community we all love. It’s definitely a positive thing for the gun community with so much negativity and divisiveness lately.
