JP Rifles – New LRI-20 Semi-Monolithic Long Range Precision Rifle

There are literally just a few weeks left, we travel into the year of 2020 and a new exciting decade.

JP Enterprises, Inc. out of Hugo, Minnesota, just revealed a new rifle called the JP LRI-20 – Semi-Monolithic Long Range Precision Rifle.

Judging the looks and specifications it looks like it’s prepared to rule competitions for the next decade.

The new integral nut upper is a real game changer according to the company, tightening up groups with even so-so barrels.

As the owner of a few JP Rifles (six of various models, in the last 10 years), I am quite happy with their performance. There are cheaper rifles on the market for sure, but I’ve come to like the package and somehow managed to afford them. Most of them are .223 Wylde, but I also have a PCS-12 in .308 Win.

Unaware of this new rifle, I actually shot it this weekend, trying to find a new round accurate enough for overall use. With a relatively cheap Vortex Strike Eagle 1-8x I managed to group 5 rounds at 1 MOA at 300 meters with 168 grs SMK bullets. The Vortex reticle was the limiting factor, as it’s rather big and difficult to aim in the same spot over and over.

I cannot say if the new model LRI-20 with its Semi-Monolithic upper is going to make the groupings even better, but I know for sure that there have been talks about how much the POI shifts if you start to apply pressure on the handguard. The new design is going to help these issues for sure.

The company Spuhr is on the same conclusion and recently showed their AR-10 Enclosed Receiver System.

JP LRI-20 – Semi-Monolithic Long Range Precision Rifle

Whether for long-range competition or sniper duty, the LRI-20™ upper receiver offers the most stable, repeatable platform for a precision gas gun on the market today. The core of this design is the new integral hand guard nut, which counters the weak point of standard AR design by adding an abundance of material to stabilize the barrel mount.

Supporting this, we’ve also added extra material to the front pivot pin joint. Paired with our MicroFit™ Takedown Pins, the LRI-20™ offers a 100% unified chassis system that we’ve seen tighten groups on even the “problems children” of our barrel sample library.

Patterned on our lightened military-style upper design, the LRI-20™ includes both dust cover and forward assist paired with our dedicated side-charging handle. The integral nut design works with any iteration of our MK III hand guard tubes.

Like all our recent receiver designs, this nut is also internally undersized for a mandatory Thermo-Fit™ installation that produces an unshakeable fusion between barrel and receiver.

LRI-20™ upper assemblies are available to pair with any existing LRP-07™ side-charge lower.

Here is a video from JP describing the LRI-20.
