The unit features XTech’s patented Sensor Mode, which uses Infra-Red sensors on each side of the trigger guard to activate either the laser, the light or both. The Smart Laser activates as your finger breaks the plane below the slide.

If you’re using a two-thumbs forward grip you can activate the light/laser by lowering your off-hand thumb. This ensures that the activation of the unit does not bring your trigger finger off the slide. In addition to this manual activation method, if the user identifies an immediate threat to himself, the action of moving the trigger finger to the inside of the guard towards the trigger will also activate the unit.

The sensor mode of the Smart Laser solves two major problems with alternative accessories on the market. Firstly, it eliminates the disclosure of your location to a potential threat with premature activation of the light or laser. Secondly, it allows the user to activate the unit effortlessly under stress without having to learn a new set of actions to accommodate a traditional laser/light activation method.

The laser has a couple of other features to conserve battery life and tailor the system to the user. The Smart Laser features a 14-hour continuous scan for activation which can be manually stopped or restarted by the user. The unit also features ambidextrous manual power buttons if you decide to use the Smart Laser in constant on mode. If desired, the unit’s sensors come pre-programmed with sensitivity settings that should cover most users, but the sensitivity of each sensor can be adjusted manually to the exact preferences of the user.

The accessory mounts onto both Picatinny and Glock style rails of full-size pistols. MSRP is $179.95.
